Charlotte Dawson found dead in her Sydney home
One of Australia’s most popular television personalities, Charlotte Dawson, was found dead in her Woolloomoolo home on Sunday. She was 47 and had a history of depression and abuse by social media trolls. The former Australia’s Next Top Model host was found by a security guard in on Sunday after Dawson failed to show up to a lunch date. Police have confirmed they were called to Dawson’s apartment at 11:18am and there were no suspicious circumstances. The news led to an outpouring of grief on social media. Radio personalities Kyle and Jackie O were among the first to express their shock. “Heartbroken to hear news that Charlotte Dawson has died,” they tweeted. It is understood that Dawson’s failure to keep her lunch appointment and the fact that her Twitter account had been inactive for 19 hours alerted a friend to alert the building manager.
Lara Bingle and Sam Worthington involved in paparazzo scuffle
Australian actor Sam Worthington has been arrested in New York this week after assaulting a photographer while protecting his girlfriend, Lara Bingle. The incident occurred outside Cubbyhole Bar after the photographer, Sheng Li, allegedly kicked Bingle. Li’s lawyer Ron Kuby accused Bingle of confronting his client and trying to take his camera. Mr Kuby says the proof is in the video footage of Sunday’s argument which appears to have started when Bingle complained about being followed by Li. Worthington has been accused of hitting the paparazzo “with a closed fist several times, causing injuries to the bridge of the nose and substantial pain”, according to the criminal complaint. The Avatar actor has been ordered to stay away from Li. If he is convicted of the assault charges, Worthington could spend up to a year in jail.
