Tony “T-Rex” Williams is facing the drop. The drop being no NSW jersey for origin and no green and gold jersey for the Australian team.
The versatile Tongan/Australian international is, by his standards, having a poor start to the season.
Last season Williams averaged 121 metres a game; now he is averaging only 89 metres a game over the full 80 minutes. Canterbury fans are yet to see their 192cm, 114kg giant show them why he is worth $600,000 a year.
Former teammate and Manly Sea Eagles centre Steve Matai told the Daily Telegraph: “It’s always going to take a little while to fit in and play some good footy at a new club. We all know what he is capable of.”
The Bulldogs desperately need to recover last year’s form: They won only one of the first four games of the 2013 season they desperately need to reinvent the form of last year. This week the Dogs meet Williams and coach Des Hasler’s former team, the Sea Eagles. It is the perfect opportunity for Williams to get back to his best and justify his nickname.
