Kim Ann Foxman is set to DJ at Sydney’s 36th Mardi Gras.
The biggest parade of the year will headline international act Foxman, while Australian DJs Dan Slater and Yo! M.A.F.I.A. will join the line up.
First release tickets to the world’s biggest, most iconic night time parade went on sale on Monday with a promise of an extravagant show.
Former Hercules and Love Affair member Foxman will bring her soulful house to Sydney after an extremely successful international tour selling out shows in Japan, Cologne and Chicago.
The winner of the 2012 Mardi Gras DJ Spin-Off competition, DJ Dan Slater, will be back for the parade in 2014. Showcasing his dance tunes and remixes, it’s an opportunity to show Sydney how far he’s come in two years. Experienced in the festival scene for over 15 years Yo! M.A.F.I.A. brings her diverse mix of Hip Hop, RNB, Booty Bass, Electro and House to the event on March 1.
The Mardi Gras aims to raise the visibility of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex communities. The parade is a statement of pride to promote a broader message of compassion and acceptance.
Sydney Mardi Gras is mostly funded by sponsorship allowing the gay and lesbian community to host the event to “inspire the world to love each other by celebrating the power and beauty of diversity”. – Jack Hislop
