The 2015 Archibald Prize artworks are now on display at the NSW Art Gallery.
Sydney barrister Charles Waterstreet, the subject of the winning portrait by Nigel Milsom, spoke to The Newsroom about the experience.
Mr Waterstreet, who inspired the ABC comedy Rake, is close friends with the artist and represented him when he was jailed for six years on robbery charges.
Mr Milsom took home the $100,000 prize for his oil on linen portrait, Judo house pt 6 (the white bird), one of the largest in this year’s collection.
Mr Milsom was previously awarded the 2012 Sulman Prize for his piece Judo house pt 4 (Golden mud). –Lily Mayers
