One lucky Macleay College student has received a scholarship that will take an epic $5000 off his tuition fees.
Business student Daniel Orellana celebrated the win with classmates and free doughnuts at the college’s Melbourne campus on Wednesday.
He told The Newsroom he was overwhelmed after receiving the scholarship.
“I had no idea. I’m shocked because I have a background where it’s always been sports awards and academic subjects have never been my strength,” he said.
“I’ve been a strong believer in not having fear in…speaking…your mind and if you’re gonna fail something…fail quick, but get back on track.”
Studying at Macleay College, he has learned to focus on studying but still has time to play sports.

“Sport’s something I do just as a hobby. But I have a passion for business and when you enjoy something, you end up producing the best works.”
Mr Orellana’s advice for students is to have a curious mind: “I always ask heaps of questions and I never shut up.”
Mr Orellana is set to finish his bachelor of business management next year and said he wants to have a career in sports marketing, hopefully in soccer, so he can “live up to the Spanish genes.” – Matthew Male
