Last week The Grounds of Alexandria held the one-off Wholefood Night Markets, but whole-foodies can rejoice as organisers say the markets could return next year.
Hosted by health food sampling service GoodnessMe Box, the markets provided 600 guests with a chance to sample an array of healthy foods, watch live cooking demonstrations, and mingle with celebrity health personalities.

Founder of GoodnessMe Box Peta Shulman said the event proved Australians were conscious about living a healthy lifestyle, now more than ever.
“The health food industry is booming and if anyone is on top of trends, or for that matter setting trends, it is The Grounds of Alexandria. You can be sure that the wholefood industry is a fast growing phenomenon if they have jumped on the bandwagon,” she told The Newsroom.
“For now it (the markets) was a one-off event, but the feedback has been fantastic.
“I’d love to do more markets so watch this space.”
With over 25 vendors operating at the markets, guests had the chance to discover new and healthy products from companies such as The Chocolate Yogi, Sprout Nutrition and IsoWhey. Judging by the queue, a crowd favourite was Sealand Birk: a “water” extracted from birch trees in Finland.

This drink has been labeled the new coconut water and Managing Director of Sealand Birk, Christie Stavropoulos, told The Newsroom it was one of the only natural sweet drinks in the world that’s good for teeth.
“[It’s] a beverage which hits you with a sensational taste without smashing you with sugar. The tree takes care of that sweetness from the xylitol it produces within its bark and infuses into the water,” she said.
The Australian Dental Association say foods containing sugar substitutes such as xylitol appear to reduce decay-causing bacteria.
