
Mobile phone data has revealed the suspected ringleader of the Paris attacks was spotted near the Bataclan theatre during the terror siege.
The data showed Abdelhamid Abaaoud returned to cafes and restaurants targeted during the attacks. There is also evidence indicating a planned bombing of the Paris business district. Prosecutor Francois Molins believes that Abaaoud and his cousin, Hasna Ait Boulachen, as well as a third unidentified person likely to have been a gunman on the night of the attacks, died in a police raid in their flat on November 18.
Bezos enjoys success after second spaceship flight
Amazon.com entrepreneur Jeff Bezos has launched a successful flight of his New Shepard spaceship. The re-usable spaceship was launched from west Texas on Monday with no one aboard. Amazon has confirmed the safe landing of the New Shepard’s capsule and propulsion unit. The ship’s first launch in April suffered a hydraulic failure, losing its propulsion unit during landing.
Chicago police officer charged with the shooting of teenager
Jason Van Dyke, the white Chicago police officer who shot a black teenager 16 times last year, has turned himself into authorities and has been charged with first-degree murder. A post-mortem has revealed that 17-year-old Laquan McDonald was shot at least twice in the back. State lawyer Anita Alvarez said that a police dashcam video to be released is “chilling” and will “tear at the hearts”. Police violence against African-Americans has been the subject of protests for months. A protest held in Minneapolis on Monday night was tainted by violence when three white men fired shots at protesters, causing injury to five people.
Roubaix hostages now safe
Hostages held in the northern French town of Roubaix are now safe, according to local officials. One of the hostage-takers was killed during the police rescue operation. Local authorities have confirmed that the hostages are now safe and at least one suspect has been arrested.
