From a dream come true, to an electoral nightmare becoming reality, it has been a huge week in social media.
#DonaldTrump
Unless you have been living under a rock you’ll have noticed a battle royal raging in the US between the forces of light (Hillary Clinton according to many) and bad guy Donald Trump. Well, Trump triumphed, being elected American’s 45th President in what was dubbed by media outlets as the biggest political upset in the history of global politics.
We should have been prepared though; we were warned 16 years ago when The Simpsons portrayed a scene with the billionaire becoming President. Mr Trump will be inaugurated on January 20, taking office for four years.
Social media has been in overdrive with memes, crude jokes, and other witty and unusually interesting facts about the president-elect including comments on his age. The previous oldest elected president in the US was Ronald Reagan, who took the oath of office in 1981, aged 69. Mr Trump is 70. Had Ms Clinton won she would have been the second-oldest president-elect at the age of 69, and become the first female president.

#LadyGaga
Thousands of people have protested about Mr Trump’s election, including pop superstar Lady Gaga who stood on a truck, holding a sign reading “Love trumps hate”.
Gaga used social media to show her support for Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton, tweeting: “In a room full of hope, we will be heard. Stand up for kindness, equality, and love. Nothing will stop us. Say a prayer, America”.
Other superstars supporting Clinton included Beyonce, Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder, and Katy Perry, who made a powerful speech hours before polling booths closed demanding people who hadn’t voted go and support Clinton.
#BabyKardashian

#JohnLewis
British department store John Lewis has sailed into a storm of controversy after unveiling its annual festive advertisement. The £7 million ad Buster The Boxer tells the story of a little girl and her dog whose parents buy her a trampoline for Christmas, hiding it in the garden as a Christmas Day surprise.
Some viewers complained that it has ruined Christmas for young children as the father is seen as the source of the trampoline, not Santa Claus. Watch the video, below, and make up your own mind. Would it have spoiled your Christmas? – Compiled from web sources by Vivien Wickham and Brandon Atkins
