The legendary Tiger Woods made his long-awaited return to professional golf but sadly for passionate golf fans, he was a bit rusty.
The 40-year old has been out of action for 16 months and finally made his return at the World Hero Challenge in the Bahamas. He finished his day with a one-over-par 73. He began solidly but as the fatigue set in he made some costly mistakes.
Woods hit the ball into the bushes and the water which seemed to frustrate him and the fans watching. He told media that he felt good after the first hit out and he can only improve as the days go by.
“I hit the ball in three bushes and the water, so it could have been something really good,” he said on Sky Sports.
“I got off to a solid start but then I made a few mistakes. I didn’t play the par-fives particularly well. “I had some awkward shots. If you drive great you can take advantage of this golf course, but if you don’t you can end up in bushes or rocks and go sideways.”
The former world number one has a long road to get back on top and he is adamant he can get back at the top from being ranked now at 898 in the world. Woods is nine shots out from fellow American leader J.B Holmes who finished his day on -8.
