Australia’s former cricket captain had a 17-year-long international cricket career; he played 169 tests and 375 one day internationals. He is the highest run scorer for Australia in both test and one-day format. He scored 13,378 runs in tests with 41 century, and 13,704 runs with 30 centuries. Only Sachin Tendulkar has scored more test runs than him.
Ponting also led the national side in both formats. He won the 2003 and 2007 World Cup in one-day format, and won 48 tests out of 77 matches.
He coached the Indian Premier League team, Mumbai Indians, alongside Sachin Tendulkar recently, and is currently working as a commentator for Big Bash League.
