Cricketer Phillip Joel Hughes, who died yesterday aged 25, features in many cricketing records, both junior and senior.
Here is a list of highlights of Phil Hughes’s achievements in his tragically short career.
2006: At the age of 17 he moved to Sydney from his Northern NSW hometown, Macksville, to play for Western Suburbs in grade cricket. He made 141 not out on his debut.
2007: Started his first-class career for New South Wales and scored 51 in his first innings on November 4. He scored 559 runs in seven matches, including one century and six fifties, at an average of 62.11.

2008: Became the youngest player to score a century in the Sheffield Cup final on March 8. He was 19.
2009: Became the 408th player to wear the baggy green cap for Australia on February 26. Made 75 in his second innings.
2009: In his second Test, in Durban on Australia’s South African tour, became the youngest player to hit back-to-back centuries in both innings. It was March; he was playing in just his second Test and made his highest Test score then – a 160 that helped Australia to seal the series.
2013: Made his one-day debut for Australia against Sri Lanka on January 11. He scored 112 and was announced man of the match.
2014: On July 29, became the first Australian to score a double century (202) in second-tier one-day international cricket playing South Africa A in Darwin.
