A lifetime supporter of the Western Bulldogs has painted his hotel in the club’s colours of red, white and blue.
Jason Sneddon, owner of the Railway Hotel in the inner west Melbourne suburb of Yarraville decided to paint the exterior of his hotel after the Western Bulldogs won the preliminary final against Greater Western Sydney (GWS) last Saturday.
“I am a big Bulldogs supporter and I have been supporting the club my whole life,” Mr Sneddon told The Newsroom.
“I’ve always had it in the back of my mind if we ever make it to the grand final, I’d paint the pub and then I said I will definitely paint the pub if we beat GWS.”
He travelled to Sydney to attend the preliminary final last weekend.
“When we won, I rang my sister and told her that I am getting the hotel painted. She contacted the painters on the Sunday and on the Monday, they came in and painted the hotel,” he said.
It took 15 litres of paint to decorate the exterior of the hotel but Mr Sneddon said it was worth it because lots of people have been commenting on the new look and hordes of children have been coming out to take photos at the front.
The Bulldogs last appeared in a grand final in 1961 and have only once won the premiership, in 1954. – Report and photo by Lamourette Folly
