Police have warned revellers to behave this weekend as the Stereosonic tour kicks off in Sydney.
The NSW police force will run operations inside and surrounding the festival at Sydney Olympic Park, targeting illegal drug use and supply, alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour.
“Police have been working closely with event organisers to ensure Stereosonic is safe and fun for everyone,” assistant commissioner Mennilli said. “There will be overt and covert police officers targeting those taking or dealing illegal drugs, and there will be a significant presence of drug-detection dogs.”
It has not been a great year for Australian music festivals, with 19-year old Georgina Bartter dying of a drug overdose earlier this month at Harbourlife and a security guard getting severely injured by trespassers when they illegally jumped the fence to gain entry into Listen Out Music festival.
