Kieran Foran has been stripped of the Parramatta Eels captaincy for missing rehabilitation sessions for his injured shoulder.
The Eels released a statement saying: “The Parramatta Eels have relieved Kieran Foran of his captaincy duties for the remainder of the season so he can focus on his recovery from a shoulder injury. The club will not be making any comment regarding its in-house disciplinary systems.”
It has been reported that one of those disciplinary systems may have been a $5000 fine.
The Eels halfback injured his shoulder in the round 12 victory against the Newcastle Knights last month. The injury ruled him out for the remainder of the 2016 season.
It’s not the first time the New Zealand international has been under the spotlight. Foran made headlines in April when he overdosed on prescription drugs before being granted leave to address personal issues. Foran still has another season left at Parramatta with the option for an extra two years but is yet to impress due to his injury and off-field drama.
Semi Radradra future still uncertain
The future of Fijian winger Semi Radradra remains in the media’s spotlight after the Parramatta Eels extended his leave. The 24-year-old traveled home to Fiji during Parramatta’s bye week. Radradra is still in Fiji with his family but is expected to play against the Sharks on Saturday night.
George Christodoulou, Radradra’s manager, told Fox Sports via text message “I want to inform you that Semi won’t be at training today as previously expected.”
Bordeaux, a Top 14 Rugby Union side in France, have reportedly offered Radradra $35,000 per match. It is uncertain whether Radradra will honour his contract or walk out on Parramatta. – Jarvis Small
