How did Michelle’s Style File come about?
Nearly two years ago I started a blog to catalogue my outfits. Little did I know what an amazing and inspirational community the blogosphere is, and what a wonderful creative outlet my blog would become for me.
What’s it all about?
Michelle’s Style File is mainly about my personal style and the outfits I wear. I also do the occasional lifestyle post (food/drink/beauty/out & about in Melbourne). My style is classic with a modern twist and quite accessible to your average gal!
When did you start noticing you had fans and followers?
I guess it was about six months after I started, my blog started to develop a readership. I remember that first comment that wasn’t a friend or family member and it was so exciting! My readers are so incredibly supportive and lovely.
What are the pros and cons of blogging?
Blogging has opened up some amazing opportunities, I’ve met so many new people and worked with fabulous international and Australian brands. I love that I have complete creative control over my blog. Sometimes I find it overwhelming that brands want to work with me, and I do commit a lot of time to my blog.
Have you got any collaborations coming up?
I’ve just finished working with Pilgrim as their Spring Racing Carnival ambassador. I am currently working with a number of brands and even have a few giveaways in the pipeline for my readers! I’ve got some great summer pieces I’m looking forward to sharing, in particular Vamastyle, Misano Shoes, Pea in a Pod maternity and Underwear of Sweden swimmable underwear. Also some great Christmas gift ideas from the very beautiful Ooh La La accessories.
Have you got any tips for bloggers wanting to get into the industry?
Love what you do and get involved in the blogging community.
When it comes to fashion, what are you inspired by?
The blogosphere is a great source of inspiration, I regularly check on my favourite bloggers for ideas.
What will you be wearing this summer?
I am currently pregnant with my first bub, due on April 1, so with my baby bump and not wanting to buy too many new pieces I will have a much more limited wardrobe than usual! I think I will be opting for loose flowing dresses and basic tank dresses layered with shirts for those cooler evenings. – Kelsey Ferencak
