Former Canterbury Bulldogs player Hazem El Masri has been charged for an act of domestic violence against his 25-year-old wife.
This past Monday night, El Masri was charged by police over a domestic dispute against his wife at his home in Bankstown. He has been granted conditional bail by police and will face Bankstown local court tomorrow.
El Masri was an ambassador for the White Ribbon foundation, which focuses on violence against women. He was stood down by the NRL and the Foundation following the allegations last Tuesday.
El Masri played in Canterbury Bulldogs from 1996 till 2009 and won the NRL championship in 2004. – Jesse Mullens.
