Police expect to identify the burnt body found in a cabin in California’s Big Bear ski resort as the fugitive Chris Dorner.
Dorner was involved in a shoot-out with scores of police yesterday before the cabin was set ablaze. Scientists examined the charred human remains on Wednesday but it will be some time before the body is officially identified. A wallet believed to have belonged to Dorner was been found in the burnt out cabin.
Police Lieutenant Andrew Neiman said overnight that the department had returned to normal operations and have withdrawn all but a dozen of the more than 50 units guarding potential Dorner targets until the remains are positively identified.
Dorner, 33, is said to have killed four people including a young couple and two police officers during a revenge campaign aimed at his former colleagues. – Kaycee Jane Shingles-Moore
