Say goodbye to your good eating habits and give a warm welcome to Donna Hay’s almond chocolate macarons!
What’s it all about?
The Donna Hay almond chocolate macaron mix is a real treat for anyone with a sweet tooth and a love for baking. Costing only $7.99 at any Woolworths or Coles supermarket, I thought I would take on the challenge of baking the perfect macaron.
The good bits
You really don’t need many ingredients besides thickened cream and water as the other ingredients are found within the mix (super great for anyone who doesn’t want a fuss). The packet contains almond macaron mix, an egg mixture and a sachet of dark chocolate pieces for the filling. It only takes around 15 minutes for the macarons to properly bake, and the prep leading up to it makes baking all the more fun!
This mix can make 12 delicious macarons, more or less, depending on the size you make them. And, with every bite, the crunchy then chewy texture and oozing chocolate centre will leave you wanting more.
The bad bits
Okay, so the baking process can be a little frustrating. If the macaron mix is not mixed until it is thick and glossy make sure to keep mixing until perfected. It’ll probably test your patience, but the perfect macaron will pay off. Also, be cautious of the time it spends in the oven, as they easily burn. Oh, and if you’re not a fan of dark chocolate, I wouldn’t recommend these macarons for you.
They might not turn out as professional as the image on the box, but I guarantee you they’ll taste incredible!
