If you’re struggling for Christmas present ideas and with only a month until the end of the world how about an armageddon survival shelter?
December 21 is considered by some to be the end of the world as we know it because a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mayan, Mesoamerican Long Count calendar comes to its end-date.
A survival community, 2012australia.com.au is building underground shelters 1280 metres above sea level in Australia.
NSW refrigeration mechanic and group organiser from the survival community, Simon Young explained.
“I’m busy working all day” with preparations for December, he said.
The website explains that the Mayan calendar doesn’t necessarily predict the end of the world but a period of change on Earth between December 21, 2012, and March 28, 2013.
Massive earthquakes, shifts in the Earth’s poles and devastating solar flares will be among events faced by the global community this year, according to the group.
Mr Young’s website says, “We want to find people to join us. Do you want to survive this massive earth changing event?” if so to contact Simon personally.
