
Socceroos midfielder Aaron Mooy has been named PFA Player of the Year by for his efforts for both his club and national team.
The 26-year-old has had a sublime season on loan at Huddersfield Town as he has scored two goals in 19 appearances for the club.
“To join the likes of Mark Schwarzer and Tim Cahill is an honour and one I am proud of, to be chosen by the players makes this award very special,” said an emotional Aaron Mooy.
Harry Kewell was also present at the awards ceremony to receive the Alex Tobin award for his contribution to football in front of 400 guests at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne.
Also on the winner’s list were Brisbane Roar striker Jamie Maclaren, who won the Young Player of the Year award and Melbourne City Women’s goalkeeper Lydia Williams who won Women’s Player of the Year. – Ben Owusu
