A week after the end of the Martin Place siege, a sea of flowers left by mourning Australians has been cleared ahead of expected rain.
Countless thousands of people had visited Martin Place to pay their respects to the siege victims, Katrina Dawson and Tori Johnson, creating a vast floral memorial in the centre of the city.
Friends and family farewelled Mr Johnson this morning at St Stephens Uniting Church in the CBD at a service attended also by the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, the Governor of NSW, David Hurley and POlice Commissioner Andrew Scipione.
The flowers left at Martin Place are to be composted for use in a planned memorial garden, while written messages will be scanned and saved for the families of the dead.
